Happy Four Month Birthday my sweet girl!

What a joy you are to be around…with your whole-face grins and your excited squeals. Your little forearm fat rolls and your chubby baby cheeks. Your big bright eyes and that adorable little bald spot that you’ve developed that makes you look so much like your Daddy.

I love to hold you at night, when you’re half asleep and smiling faintly, when you grab on to my shirt and hold on like you’re fighting gale-force winds.

I love to watch you bat at your duck, or grab that lady bug and pull him towards your face, trying everything you can to get him in your mouth. I love to see you nomming away on your bunny’s ears, or wrapping your little fingers around lamby’s rings. And I especially enjoy watching you trying to roll over, making it all the way from one side to the other, and then getting stuck right there an inch away from getting on to your tummy.

And your new little sounds amaze us every day. The “coos” and “yips” and “aaahhs”, and the occasional “ahhh-gooo” or “ooowwwrrrrrrr.” Sometime you give us a scare, because we forget that these noises might be coming from you, and we search the house frantically for an injured mouse or broken appliance…but then we realize that it was just you, exploring those vocal cords and keeping us on our toes.

You are so cute when you lay on your belly and hold that little head up, looking around the room at everything like you’ve never seen it before, that little head bobbing up and down like you belong on a dashboard. You are just about too adorable for words.

I love you, sweet girl, and I can’t believe it’s already been four months since we met. I hope you have a happy day
